The City’s published AB 2533 materials describe a path aimed at qualifying pre-2020 ADUs and JADUs. Read the current guide and checklist together, then confirm applicability with Fullerton staff before relying on the process.
02 · Evidence file
Build a factual record before proposing corrections.
Existing conditions
Document use, dimensions, construction, utilities, life-safety features, and visible deficiencies.
Correction scope
Separate required investigation and safety work from desired remodel or expansion work.
03 · Important limits
Legalization is property-specific.
The age threshold alone does not establish eligibility, safety, or approval. The current City materials and staff determination control. Do not begin corrective construction before understanding permit requirements.
